Beginning in May, students attending degree-granting institutions will have the choice between our low variable interest rates and our new competitive fixed interest rates:
- Fixed Interest Rate, Interest Repayment Option: 5.75% to 11.875%
- Fixed Interest Rate, Fixed Repayment Option: 6.25% to 12.375%
- Fixed Interest Rate, Deferred Repayment Option2: 6.75% to 12.875%
Both variable and fixed interest rate loans will feature no origination fees and no prepayment penalty; and rest assured that all borrower benefits currently associated with the variable interest rate on the Smart Option Student Loan will also be available when borrowers apply for a fixed interest rate loan.

Rates and fees shown are available for the Smart Option Student Loan and are available for borrowers attending degree-granting institutions only. Interest rates on loans with the Fixed and Deferred Repayment Options are higher than rates on loans with the Interest Repayment Option. Origination fees mean application or disbursement fees. Variable rates may increase after consummation.
The Deferred Repayment Option is only available for degree-granting institutions. Unpaid interest will capitalize when the loan enters principal and interest repayment.
