Community Outreach

Members Exchange Credit Union is involved in several community events, and donates time and money to a variety of causes. In the past, MECU members, employees and volunteers have raised thousands of dollars for local charities and are proud to support our community.  

March of Dimes:
Members Exchange Credit Union began supporting the March of Dimes in 2003.  Each year the credit union has special fundraising projects to raise money for this special charity.  Employees also participate in the annual March of Dimes walk (March for Babies).  The walk is held annually and many participate who’ve been touched by the March of Dimes mission in a very personal way and to bring awareness to others about premature births.

Children’s Miracle Network:
For many years, Members Exchange Credit Union has sponsored the Children’s Miracle Network and has raised thousands of dollars for CMN.  Children’s Miracle Network is 170 hospitals serving all kids, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.  Our local children’s hospital, the Blair E. Batson at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, works closely with its partners to raise money to help sick children.

The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Program:
Members Exchange Credit Union tries to make the holidays a little brighter for a needy child in the local community.  By participating in this program, holiday gifts are provided for children age 12 and younger.  Tags are provided by the Salvation Army that lists the child’s name, age, and a few items they want for Christmas.  At each branch location, the tags are placed on the Christmas trees and members and employees are able to choose a child to sponsor.  This program has been tremendously successful for many years and children all over the state have benefited from the generosity of all sponsors.

MS Blood Services
Members Exchange Credit Union holds periodic blood drives not only to get blood donations, but to also raise awareness of this important need that saves lives each and every day.

Stewpot
MECU raises money and accepts donations during the holiday season for the MS Stewpot.  This year, 2007, not only did our members donate canned goods and other items, but they were generous with their monetary donations as well.  MECU was able to raise $1,126.38 in addition to the food items.  Also, Pearl Public Schools collected over 6,000 items for the Stew pot and they are making the donation in Members Exchange Credit Union's name.  Thank you to all those that paricipated and made this fundraiser such a success.
