For Your Peace of Mind SMS Text Alert Fraud Prevention

It’s fraud prevention made simple. If you have a Members Exchange Visa® Credit Card or Debit Card, you can now enroll in the new smsGuardian anti-fraud text alert notification service, which sends transaction alerts directly to your mobile phone or other SMS-enabled device. Here’s how it works: When a purchase that meets the monitoring criteria is made with your card, a text will be sent to you for review. If you think a particular transaction is fraudulent, reply immediately. A smsGuardian fraud analyst will block the card and follow up with you by phone. This added layer of security enables fraudulent activity to be identified and stopped immediately, which significantly reduces the likelihood that subsequent unauthorized transactions will occur. If you receive this message and the purchase is legitimate, do nothing. If the purchase is fraud, reply with the code on the text message and your card will be blocked. If you do not reply to the text message within 12 hours, the transaction is considered legitimate and no further action will occur.

The smsGuardian service can be cancelled anytime by replying with the message “STOP” (without quotes). You may unsubscribe from this service entirely at any time.

When you enroll in the service, the system monitors card usage for the following types of transactions:

  • Card Not Present
  • Authorizations Greater than $500.00
  • 8 or more Transactions in 24 hours

*If one of these transactions occurs with your credit card, you will receive a text message alert.
